About Project Love LIT

Background Story

Project Love Lit was founded by Dr. Jequita Gresham PharmD, a pharmacist, and licensed educator. The mission of Love LIT is to encourage youth of all ages to love literature by creating books that are culturally relevant with powerful lessons that they can relate to.

As an educator, Dr. Gresham observed that many within the student body suffered academically as a result of poor literacy skills and/or aliteracy. Such a disconnect from the written English Language meant that students are not only failing to meet grade level competency requirements, but also meant that any future, higher level academic goals will be stunted.

Literacy is the foundation that paves the way to future success, as it is embedded within the fabric of our society. Students who lack literacy skills often have futures that are bleak and filled with uncertainty. Love LIT has a goal to create books that will ignite the love for written word, inspiring our youth to dream big and never give up.

Our Vision

Literature as a tool for change

Create

Words are powerful and have the capacity to uplift and shift momentum. Sharing new, refreshing and thought provoking content is the first step in the right direction for change.

Teach

Those who have acquired wisdom of the world and its' many lessons should feel compelled to share it with the impressionable minds of the youth. The new generation of today will become the future thought leaders of tomorrow. The wiser they become the better the future will be.

Dream

Reading creates mind expansion, which in time creates the space and desire to dream. The ultimate vision of Love LIT is to challenge minds to never stop dreaming and to become anything that their heart desires.

Our Mission

A Project Love Lit Inc is an education-based organization that offers personal development,  financial literacy, literacy, math fluency, and social-emotional development seminars and workshops designed to educate and support youth who reside in socio-economic challenged communities.

We also have a mission to help youth with unique abilities find their purpose and life path as they transition beyond high school. Our goal is to empower persons with disabilities to find competitive, inclusive employment in the workforce and actively participate in the community.
